Style Tips for Cute Flower Girls

If you ask me, every bride should have at least one flower girl in her wedding. The rosy-cheeked darlings are the sweetest thing, especially when they scatter rose petals along the bridal path for the bride’s grand cruise down the aisle.

Flower girls look really precious in their princess outfits however, when you choose their dresses, keep in mind a crucial factor: comfort. You might already know that adorable little divas tend to complain almost about anything (flower girls are normally aged three to eight), so avoid dolling them up in polyester or lace dresses that might scratch their skin and make them feel uncomfortable. Dress them in delicate silk or cotton if you opt for a spring or summer wedding, and go for taffeta or velvet (plus the de rigueur tights) if you celebrate your big day in winter. Pay the same attention to their shoes because they should fit perfectly, otherwise you’ll be hearing about it! The little princesses should not wear high-heeled shoes because they will most probably end up whining about their sore feet at some point. Opt for sweet ballerina shoes that will allow them to be active all day.

Many brides love their flower girls to channel mini-versions of their own gowns, but this is optional. To add a stylish touch, cinch their waists with colorful sashes and ribbons which match the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses. However, if you are having your wedding in a garden or on the beach, light and breezy dresses are a great choice, while if you go for ballroom extravaganza, you should dress them in precious, fancy dresses that match the opulent venue.

As for the length, another key element, you can choose between floor- and tea-length. If your flower girls are very young, consider the latter choice, preventing them from stumbling in dramatic floor-length dresses.

The unexpected can always occur and, even if one of your stylish flower girls manages to drop the basket, trip down the aisle, decides to start crying or just lift up her dress at some point, they will look precious nonetheless.
