Let’s face it – it’s not easy to be a bridesmaid. Of course it is an honor to be a part of the wedding, but there is a lot of expense and time that goes into it. Not only do they have lots to pay for, but they also have to set aside a lot of time to support you and help you plan. Sometimes this even requires taking off work!
You chose these lovely ladies to be in your party because they are special to you, so don’t make their experience difficult. There are three things you can do to make your bridesmaids feel special and make their life a little bit easier.
1. Pay for one of their expenses.
This is something I really wanted to do for my bridesmaids but didn’t have the budget for it. Try your best to make some wiggle room and offer to pay for their dress, shoes, or wedding day hair. If you require extra things outside of expected bridesmaid expenses, then pay for them yourself.
2. Outline Bachelorette and shower expectations.
I was so impressed with the care and thought my family and bridesmaids put into my shower. I also felt a little guilty because I knew my bridesmaids did not have extra money to throw at it. If you know your ladies are tight on cash (think Kristen Wiig in Bridesmaids), then let them know you don’t expect a giant cookie heart and a fancy French themed shower.
3. Always, always, always get them a gift.
They are honored to be a part of your wedding and are doing everything they can to support and help you. Let them know how much you appreciate it by giving them a special gift. You can refer to my other blog post about bridesmaids gifts they actually want. Don’t get them cliché and cheap presents that they will put in the closet and never use again. It is better to treat bridal gift shopping like birthday gift shopping and get them each something special and meaningful.
